Flint Hill Public House Restaurant & Inn is pleased to announce Certified Executive Chef, Nate Myers and Vice President/General Manager, Dan Myers have taking the helm of this historic, countryside retreat with one mission - to make the Public House a favorite destination of locals and visitors alike. Executive Chef, Nate Myers earned his culinary degree at Baltimore International College in Maryland and is one of handful of chefs in the state to have also earned certification from the America Culinary Federation. Myers launched his career in the Chesapeake area at his restaurant, Trick Dog Café, which was quickly recognized by the Richmond Times as a “Top 10 Dinning Destination in Virginia” and his crab cakes received their own celebrity after being featured in Baltimore Style. The San Francisco Examiner and the Washington Examiner also took notice, calling Meyers a “Chef to Watch.” Nate is steadfast in his commitment to using fresh, quality ingredients and true artisanship in the kitchen. To that end, he is eager to take advantage of the many local purveyors in the area and has already made significant upgrades to the Flint Hill Public House’s kitchen in order to improve flow and efficiencies. “As a chef, you always want to work with the freshest, highest quality ingredients. For example, we use whole oysters from Rappahannock Oyster Company in our oyster stew. I'm always going to choose fresh ingredients sourced from people I know and rely on for the best quality - it just makes for better food. Sourcing locally also fosters creativity and originality, and because the Public House has a state-of-the-art kitchen, my team is able to offer an original menu with great proficiency.” – Flint Hill Public House Executive Chef Nate Myers The Public House has also benefited from the contributions of another Myers. Vice President and General Manager (and older brother to Nate) Dan Myers. Dan was raised in a family of restaurateurs, and is currently also managing the very popular, Front Porch Market & Grill in The Plains, VA. His mission for the Public House was simple - to bring much of what has made the Front Porch successful to Flint Hill. “This is a gorgeous venue and I knew with Nate in the kitchen the food would be spectacular, but we wanted people to feel like they could enjoy this space anytime – whether a special occasion or a casual lunch on a Thursday. The changes we’ve made - whether a fresh coat of paint or Nate's refined, but uncomplicated menu - have all been made to ensure the Public House offer an elegant, but relaxed experience. We wanted to create a home away from home for locals and a great destination for day-trippers. I think we succeeded.” – Flint Hill Public House Vice President and General Manager, Dan Myers Nate and Dan were raised in Winchester, Virginia where their family has a long history and strong local ties. Those roots have played a significant role in their desire to create something that not only brought visitors to the area but also gave locals a place to gather and connect. With one visit, it is clear that the Myers brothers’ have made this beautiful countryside venue a perfect choice for both the special occasion and the weekly, lunch club. It is a must-visit destination for locals and visitors alike. The 100 year old, former country schoolhouse, beautifully restored and nestled within five acres of Virginia’s picturesque countryside, is taking full advantage its rural roots to provide a wholesome, farm-to-table experience. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch and the Inn offers four luxury suites for overnight stay.
